This is probably the most awesome dress I have ever seen. As you've probably guessed, I'm a total sucker for novelty prints, and spend a small fortune (ok, so maybe not so small) on acquiring the most unusual ones I can find.
The above is an amazing Mexican-y/Tribal-y/Native-y type affair. As it is not yet in my possession (making its way across Europe as we speak I imagine) I haven't had a chance to do much research on it. I do know that the print is kick ass, and it looks killer on.
The reason I know that it looks great on is all down to a chance meeting at High Rockabilly this year. Me and my bestie, Yvette, headed over to Spain to tear up the town.
As Yvette and I were doing our nightly trawl around the shopping area, I was disappointed by the lack of great clothes.
As we w about to leave I saw a young lady in my DREAM dress. This dress.
I said to Yvette "I wonder if she bought that here? The bitch! I knew we should have come shopping when it opened on Thursday!!"
I insisted, at this point, in following the poor girl around (surreptitious, like) to get a better look at this fantastical article.
"I want it" I said to Yvette "I don't care what I have to do to get it, I want it". I borrowed a piece of paper and a pen from a couple on their stall and quickly wrote down my email, phone number and an undisclosed sum of money.
I confidently strolled over to the young lady in question and thrust the piece of paper at her.
"This is weird" I said, "but I want your dress. This is what I'll pay for it, and I imagine its a lot more than you paid for it originally" She gave me a bemused look (because of the situation I think, fortunately, although she was German, she spoke English and understood my indecent proposal!) thanked me and wandered off. I couldn't stop dreaming about the dress all weekend and well after I'd returned to the UK. I didn't even know if it was my size (she looked much smaller than me) but I was in love!
Anyway, I had all but forgotten about my beauty until I received an email from Miss Melanie entitled 'Mexican Dress - Calafell'
You can imagine my excitement! She was telling me she'd decided to sell and was open to my (outrageous) offer, if it still stood. Does the pope shit in the woods?! Buy now, think later!
After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing (just checked the size and condition, even though I really had to take it regardless: my size, excellent condition! Boom!) the dress was finally on its way to me.
I had a little victory dance round the lounge with Gilbert.
I'll be following up this post with some photos of my IN the dress.
Moral of the story? You don't ask, you don't get! Hurrah!
